Group overrides

Group overrides matter only when a particular group numbers a show differently from everyone else. New terms are in the glossary.

Some release groups number a show their own way. A group override records that, so when the resolver sees that group’s name in a release it reads the number the group’s way.

# data/groups/examplesubs.yaml (an illustration, not a real group)
id: examplesubs
aliases: [ExampleSubs, ExSubs]
overrides:
- { work: example-show-part-2, numbering: continue_prequel }

Three kinds of numbering exist:

numbering Meaning
continue_prequel The group continues the prequel’s numbering: a 12-episode first cour, then 13, 14 and so on for this work.
absolute The group numbers by an absolute sequence: the work’s default one, or another named with sequence:.
offset The group’s number minus offset is the canonical episode.
With continue_prequel, ExampleSubs' episode 15 of Example Show is the second cour's episode 3.

continue_prequel needs a prequel that comes from a hand-written file, a seed or TVDB order: a prequel that only comes from an AniList relation orders works but never implies numbering, so validation rejects the override until a stronger source exists.

There is no real group data in Courmap yet. If you know a group’s quirk, a pull request with a group file and sources: links to the group’s releases is welcome; see Contributing mappings.
